The Man Behind the Music

The Soul Beginning

Davante Thornton has humble beginnings in the small town of Hope, AR and has had an early exposure to different types of music at a young age. From the quartet gospel stylings of his mother and aunts to the old school funk/soul melodies his brothers played regularly, he is very in touch with the “old school” moniker that many give him.

While studying in college at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, Davante was able to mesh together jazz and classical voicing to his "Red Velvet" tone.

Currently based in Dallas, TX, He has opened up for the Hamiltones, sings lead with Randy McGill and the Eclectic. sung backing vocals for Sunday’s Best Jessica Reedy, and shared the stage with other greats like Daniel Jones and RC Williams.

Davante became a featured artist at The Black Academy of the Arts and Letters' 2019 Riverfront festival and was one of the many talents acts that opened for Erykah Badu for TBAAL 2021. As time goes by, He continues to grow and share the gift of music with a true smooth, silky soul.
